FUNDING
The ASciNA Mentoring Program 2026/27 offers tailored support for Austrian early-career researchers during their research stay in the USA, Canada, or Mexico. The University of Vienna sponsors two places for its postdocs with a confirmed research position or study placement in North America as of September 2026. Applications are possible until May 22, 2026.
JESH is a mobility programme offered by the Austrian Academy of Sciences that allows postdocs to establish scientific collaborations during a research stay of one to six months in Austria (JESH Incoming) and 61 different target countries (JESH Outgoing).
Applications are possible until Jul 7, 2026.
The Erwin Schrödinger program allows highly qualified postdocs to pursue career-enhancing stays at internationally renowned research institutions and also supports them after their return to Austria. The funding period is 10 to 24 months for the abroad phase and up to 12 months for the return phase. Applications can be submitted on a rolling basis.
The FWF program ESPRIT funds early-stage researchers (up to 5 years after PhD) in all disciplines for up to 36 months. The funding includes the principal investigator’s salary and project-specific costs from EUR 45,000 (flat rate) to EUR 75,000 (upon request, if justified). Applications can be submitted on a rolling basis.
