FUNDING

The FWF-ASTRA awards support successful, internationally visible researchers from all disciplines with min. 500,000 to max. 1 million Euros. In addition, funding for women can be topped up with a tenure package of 200,000 Euros. The duration of the projects is 5 years. Applicants must have completed their doctorate at least 2 to a maximum of 9 years ago. The submission deadline is expected to be in the first half of September. The exact deadline will be announced by the FWF shortly.
The DLE Research Services and Career Development offers an info event (online, in English) on Jun 24, 2026, at 11:00 am. The event covers the key information on the FWF ASTRA Guidelines and the University of Vienna's internal approval process. After that, there will be time for Q&A. Learn more and register

ERC Grants 2027: The 2027 ERC Work programme will be published in July. The application deadline for ERC StG 2027 is expected to be on Oct 14, 2026 (tbc), and the one for ERC CoG 2027 on Jan 12, 2027 (tbc). EurAsia Award for Research in East and Southeast Asia

Vienna Center for Advanced Studies (ViCAS) Fellowships 2027–2028

Each academic year, ViCAS hosts around 30 fellows divided over three residencies. ViCAS invites applications from international scholars from all academic disciplines with an outstanding academic record and an interest in interdisciplinary engagement.
