Applying for a professorship: Preparing a convincing portfolio

Convincing application documents play a key role when applying for a professorship. This workshop shows how to best present your academic profile in a written application for an assistant or full professorship in German-speaking countries. It introduces the appointment procedure (procedural steps, requirements for a professorship) and provides practical knowledge for preparing a written application (overview of application documents, best practice cover letter, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statement).
Note: This workshop is aimed at postdocs who intend to apply in Austria, Germany or Switzerland.

  • Your CV as the central document of your written application
  • Typical content and structure of a cover letter
